You might not rock wings 365 days a year, but who doesn’t want bronzed skin and voluminous tresses? In honour of the brand’s runway show in New York tonight, we caught up with Alessandra Ambrosio to get all the details on an angel’s pre-show beauty routine. We also asked about what she uses at home to get angel-like bedhead and what’s earned a permanent place in her makeup bag. You may have to wait until December 10th to see the show, but you can check out all of her must-haves right now.
Ambrosio doesn’t hesitate when asked for her pre-show beauty secret: “I use Joanna Vargas’ Exfoliating Mask ($75): you rub it in like a scrub, but leave it on like a mask,” she says. The model follows the mask with her normal routine of Clarins’ Toning Lotion With Camomille ($22) and Joanna Vargas’ Daily Hydrating Cream ($75). “It’s my pre-show beauty secret.”
A Victoria’s Secret angel has a very specific look—bronzed skin, big hair, and nude lips—and it’s one that Ambrosio’s adopted in real life. The products that get here there? M.A.C.’s Bronzing Powder ($25), Oribe’s Dry Texture Spray ($39), and her must-have lip color: Victoria’s Secret Lipstick ($12) in Whisper. “I think a nude lip is very sexy.”
“Sometimes I’ll just apply lip balm over a nude lip liner,” she says.
“Victoria’s Secret has this great brush with sparkles that we use before shows,” Ambrosio says about the brand’s Instant Bronzing Shimmer Powder ($24). “It gives this really nice shimmer that’s perfect for the runway.”
“I love the new Chloe perfume,” Ambrosio says of Chloe’s Roses de Chloe Eau de Toilette Spray ($120).
"My daughter always steals these out of my bag,” Ambrosio says of EOS’ Organic Lip Balm Spheres ($3). “My favorites are the fruit and the mint flavors,” she says.
“I prefer to play up my eyes on the red carpet,” Ambrosio says.
“This shadow feels creamy, but turns into a powder,” Ambrosio says about Chanel’s Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow ($36). “I wear the gold shade the most, but I also like the taupe and the black.” Try the shades Initiantion, Mirifique, and Convoitise.
