Sure, we may balk at a celebrity for following an insanely bizarre meal plan like an all-protein shake diet, werewolf diet or baby-food diet, all of which make us want to reach for a cheeseburger about 10 times faster than we usually would. But then there are the celebrities who follow a diet we actually have the willpower to handle—some we've even tried ourselves and lived to tell the tale.
And because we're so entranced by everything that celebrities do, wear, use, and eat, we've decided to round up some daily celebrity meal plans that we either A. would be willing to try or B. have already tried and think you should know about. Below, prepare to have your mouth water (or not) as we take a look at a day in the life of a celebrity's stomach.
Byrdie co-founder Hillary Kerr and Byrdie editorial director Faith Xue tried out Kim Kardashian West's post-pregnancy diet (aka the Atkins Diet). The goal is to eat less than 40 net carbs per day, which may sound like a total buzzkill, but truly, the pre-planned meals are easy to follow, tasty, and you're encouraged to snack. Not too shabby, huh?
Sample breakfast: Two eggs scrambled with heavy cream and cheddar cheese, two pieces of turkey bacon, 4 ounces of full-fat Greek yogurt and 1/3 cup of blueberries
Sample lunch: Turkey burger with chipotle aioli, tomato, and pickled onions over greens
Sample dinner: Zucchini noodles with spicy chicken sausage
Ever the adventurous eater, Faith also tried Gisele's alkaline diet. The belief behind this diet is that eating more alkaline foods and fewer acidic foods helps you balance your body, lose weight, clear your skin, etc. It seems to be working for the supermodel (and her hubby), but the meals may leave otherwise carboholics feeling hungry. Faith followed Dr. Daryl Gioffre’s Get Off Your Acid 7-Day Cleanse, which involved a whole lot of green smoothies, veggies, and the like (no meat, dairy, sugar or processed carbs are allowed, except for on cheat day).
Sample breakfast: Green Goddess smoothie (spinach, coconut water, a frozen banana, a scoop of almond butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon)
Sample lunch: Winter quinoa with vegetables
Sample dinner: Sautéed kale in coconut oil, avocados, and walnuts sprinkled on top
Senior editor Hallie Gould tried the Dr. Passler cleanse that Bella Hadid follows. Gould said she felt healthier than she had felt in a long time when the cleanse wrapped, but the meal plan (if you can even call it that) is definitely a tough one.
Sample breakfast: 1 Lean Body Protein shake
Sample lunch: 100 calories of raw or steamed vegetables or soup, 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil, and 1 Detox Support pack
Example dinner: Same as lunch
This is obviously an extreme diet, but let it be known that when she's not trying to slim down, Bella absolutely adores pizza and eats it every day.
It's clear that Victoria's Secret model Elsa Hosk doesn't binge on junk food throughout the day—just take a look at her sinewy physique and ballerina gams. But she does know how to let herself indulge and enjoy the good stuff from time to time.
Sample breakfast: Eggs, bacon, juice, and coffee
Sample lunch: Fattoush (a Mediterranean salad of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers with feta), plus grilled chicken if she's hungry
Example dinner: A protein with vegetables or potatoes
Miranda Kerr is definitely health-conscious and boasts her love of organic foods and earthy eats, so we weren't surprised to learn that her typical daily meals reflect these sentiments.
Sample breakfast: Avocado on gluten-free toast, along with a cup of Earl Grey tea (try The Tea Makers Ceylon Earl Grey Supreme Tea, £8)
Sample lunch: A chopped spinach salad with grilled salmon, fennel, green olives, tomato, and carrots
Sample dinner: Roast chicken and vegetables and a glass of organic wine
"Eat clean to stay fit, have a burger to stay sane" is Gigi Hadid's motto. As such, her daily diet consists of good-for-you meals, but she's not averse to In-N-Out.
Sample breakfast: Scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, coffee, and orange juice
Sample lunch: A burger (if she's craving it) or an arugula salad
Sample dinner: Sushi from a restaurant
