With most celebrity/makeup collaborations these days, we tend to get weeks and sometimes even months of teasers in the lead up to their release. Whether that's via a spontaneous Instagram post or a sneaky Snapchat, we tend to know nearly everything about a product before we can get our hands on it. But not with Victoria Beckham's Estée Lauder launch.
While the collaboration was announced way back in April, until today we didn't really have much of an idea what the designer's first-ever makeup range would consist of. But thanks to a video for Vogue, in which VB puts on her makeup using her collection, we now have a good idea of what it's going to include.
In the video, we see Victoria take five minutes to put on her evening look. The end result is an incredible smoky eye and nude lip that are both totally wearable. We don't want to spoil it for you, so we'll just say it's worth a watch.
Keep scrolling to watch Victoria Beckham put on her makeup, including how she does a smokey eye, and find out what some of her collection is going to be called.
Okay, let's break down this video and the products that are being used. In the clip, VB already has her base and minimal eyes (mascara and a tiny bit of eyeliner) on, but to make this an evening look, she takes five minutes to take it up a notch.
In order to give herself a smoky eye and nude lip, which she calls the London look, the designer uses six products. Taking eye shadows called Blonde Cumin and Black Nutmeg, she puts the first shadow on her lids and then lightly lines her bottom lashes and her eyelid crease with the second, which is the darker of the two.
She then draws along her inner waterline using an eyeliner called Grey Amber. Immediately afterwards, she applies her lip liner and lipstick in a nude colour to create that "sexy" look, as she says. Finally, she adds a touch of highlighter called Modern Mercury to give "a healthy glow" and then taps on Morning Aura—an illuminating cream that hydrates and tightens.
According to the video notes, these are the featured products: Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder Eye Palette, Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder Lip Pencil, Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder Lipstick in Brazilian Nude, Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder Highlighter in Modern Mercury and the Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder Morning Aura Illuminating Creme.
You can see all the products, and what they'll look like in the Instagram video below.
In an interview with Vogue, she revealed that it will be a 14-piece capsule makeup collection and will be split into four mini-collections, titled New York, London, Los Angeles, and Paris.
"It was really about not compromising, and creating pieces that I wanted to wear myself," Beckham says. And by the looks of it, they'll be items we want to wear too.
We'll be updating you with more news on the Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder collection as it comes in but just know that it will be available on September 13.
P.S. Can we just take a moment to appreciate that she says "spice up my eye"? Never change, VB. Never change.
