At Byrdie HQ, we now refer to occurrences as BBV and ABV—before beauty videos and after beauty videos. Nowadays, we’re in the throes of ABV, where a quick scroll through YouTube will yield hundreds (actually, thousands) of videos teaching you everything from strobing to baking to pulling off a not-basic bun. Although we love a good tutorial (and trust us, we’ve mastered some pretty rad hairstyles thanks to them), we’re excited to debut a new series that’s a bit different from the rest. Allow us to introduce to you to Unboxed, a new Byrdie video series that invites you to come along as we open and test out all the coolest new beauty products that land on our desks. Reading reviews can help you make your final decision, but there’s nothing quite like opening the crisp, new box; holding the gleaming, untouched product in your hand; spraying it; applying it… We get way too excited just thinking about it (clearly). These reviews are unbiased, and you’ll be able to experience our first impressions right along with us—think of it like opening a brand-new beauty gift with a girlfriend (aka lots of playing around, testing out, and in-depth discussion).
For our first unboxing, we’re opening a futuristic-looking device you may or may not have seen before: Swedish beauty company Foreo’s Luna Mini Save the Sea Special Edition ($139). We’ve heard lots of buzz about this beauty product—it’s supposed to be changing the facial cleansing space for a number of reasons, not least of which is the fact that it looks so damn cool. Plus, net proceeds from this special version will be going to Foreo’s Board of Ocean Conservation, which includes the Sea Life Trust and more. Saving the sea in the name of better skin? We dig.
