It's tough to name a hairstyle more iconic than General (née Princess) Leia's buns—and in spite of being part of Star Wars history, the 'do got a red carpet refresh last night for the Los Angeles premiere of The Force Awakens. Lupita Nyong'o, Sofia Vergara, and more arrived sporting gorgeous iterations on the look. All in all, brilliant.
Don't just take our word for it—keep scrolling to see the best beauty looks of last night's Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere, Leia-inspired and otherwise.
The star of the new film opted for understated elegance, with a pinned-up bob and a classic smoky makeup look in shades of purplish taupe to set off her hazel eyes. Chanel makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto used the brand's Quadra Eyeshadow (£40) in Tissé Gabrielle, defining the lash lines with the Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner (£19) in Espresso.
As for Ridley's hair, stylist Robert Vetica relied on Leonor Greyl's Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice (£25) for that touchable volume.
The actress blew us away with her festive look, complete with bright lipstick, silvery eye shadow… and yes, Leia buns. Makeup artist Nick Barose actually blended two products to acheive that festive lip color: Lancôme's L'Absolu Rouge Lip Color (£24) in Absolute Rouge, and a sheer chocolate lip pencil.
Where's the "top" emoji? King's entire look was completely on point—including the lopsided bun. (One on each side might have been too literal.)
The singer decided to pay homage to another iconic Leia beauty moment: that infamous gold bikini look. Get the same gilded finish with Jane Iredale's 24-Karat Gold Dust (£14).
We'd be remiss to exclude Carrie Fisher's daughter, who appears in the film (with a hairstyle that nods to her mother's 'do, no less). Last night, the Scream Queens actress went for a simple ponytail and a shimmering eye makeup look.
The singer knows that in red carpet land, Veronica Lake waves and a vampy red lip never really steer you wrong.
Proof that breezy, tousled hair can absolutely work for a more formal occasion. Maintain a little polish to that undone texture with the help of a leave-in conditioner, like Sachajuan Leave-in Conditioner (£21) .
Is it too early to predict this sleek bob as one of the It hairstyles of 2016? And the brows, and glossy lip—so chic, all around.
