Nars’ Blush/Bronzer Duo ($41) in Orgasm/Laguna is a combination of the brand’s two best-selling shades: the former’s a shimmery peach that flatters most skin tones, while the latter’s is a golden bronze. E.l.f.’s Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder ($3) in St. Lucia looks about the same, so we broke them open and put them to the test.
Blush first. Orgasm is more pigmented, delivering a bolder shot of colour with golden undertones, while the e.l.f. blush is softer and lighter, but with the same amount of shimmer. The bronzers swing the opposite direction. Laguna is softer with a light sheen, while e.l.f.’s shade is much darker, providing a deeper colour.
Our verdict? Build the bronzer in e.l.f’s formula on your face slowly and you’ve got a great alternative to Nars’ popular shades—and an extra $25 to spend on Nars’ unparalleled Velvet Matte Lip Pencil.
