Welcome to our new series Beauty Test, where we invite the freshest new faces in modelling to the Byrdie studio to test-drive the most buzzed-about beauty trends—or, to be honest, just some really pretty makeup looks we’ve been dying to see in real life. First up? Dolce & Gabbana muse Sonia Ben Ammar.
Sonia Ben Ammar has the kind of face that makes you do a double (perhaps triple) take. With eyes the colour of worn-in Levi’s, some envy-inducing brows and lips that will surely inspire song lyrics sometime soon, the French-Tunisian bombshell emits early Adriana Lima or Irina Shayk vibes—but with a confidence and effortless cool all her own. At just 18, she’s already walked four Dolce & Gabbana runways and served as brand muse, all while finishing a slew of AP classes and graduating high school in Paris this past spring. Between shooting campaigns for the likes of Chanel and prepping for her classes at USC this autumn, Ben Ammar stopped by the Byrdie studio to test-drive some of our current favourite minimal makeup looks before the chaos of fashion week sets in. And with a complexion like hers, we couldn’t let her leave without telling us all her beauty secrets, too. Keep scrolling to see the looks and get to know Sonia Ben Ammar.
On her everyday skincare routine:
“At night, I take my makeup off with Bioderma Créaline H20 Cleanser (£11). Then I wash my face with the Fresh Soy Cleanser (£12) and finish by using the brand’s Rose Floral Toner (£31). I finish by moisturising my face morning and evening with natural oils or Embryolisse (£20) cream.”
Look #3: Gilded Gold Eyes
Eyes: Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Gold Goddess (£23); Lips: Elizabeth Arden Sheer Kiss Lip Oil in Heavenly Rose (£18).
On her makeup routine:
“I like to keep my skin looking natural. I wear the Nars Creamy Concealer (£23) every day for my under-eyes and for any imperfections. I try not to wear foundation during the day, but when I do, I use the Armani Liquid Silk. I really love Benefit’s They’re Real mascara. I keep my skin glowing with the Girl Meets Pearl Highlighter from Benefit. Whenever I’m going for a bolder look, I use the Dolce & Gabbana Liquid Liner and red lipstick.”
Look #4: Berry-Stained Lips
Lips: Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Wine Berry.
On her lip essentials:
On the best makeup tip she learned backstage:
“My best makeup tip is to use one product for many uses. I use lipstick for my lips, as blush and sometimes even on my eyes, depending on the colour.”
On the last thing she did for her mental health:
“Getting a puppy! She makes me happier and less anxious.”
On the last thing she googled:
“I googled ‘how to make a face mask’ last week.”
