There are plenty of skincare mistakes we've made ourselves. But when it comes to A-listers, you'd think that beauty errors wouldn't be all that common, considering they have the best and biggest facialists, dermatologists, and makeup artists on speed dial. You'll be pleased to know, however, that they're not Teflon when it comes to their complexions, and they make just as many mistakes as we do. From not applying enough SPF (so important) to being overzealous with the fake tan (guilty!), as well as plenty of other mistakes we're sure you'll recognise, there are many a skincare fault that even some of our favourite celebrities have fallen prey to.
So who has actually admitted to these faults? From Kim Kardashian West to her sister Kylie Jenner, as well as the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Victoria Beckham, and Cameron Diaz, it seems that there are many A-listers who will admit to their missteps. But just who has revealed what? To find that out, you'll have to keep scrolling to find our the biggest skincare mistakes from your favourite A-listers…
Being overly tanned
The fashion designer admitted that she often went a little too far with the old fake tan. In an interview with Hello! magazine, she admitted that she doesn't wear the stuff anymore, preferring to stick to her more natural skin tone, saying "I've been turned orange but that's definitely a look from my past." She also added that it aged her and it's "a bit footballer's wife."
Not taking off makeup
What happens when you don't take off your makeup before you go to bed? As one Byrdie editor discovered, this is what sleeping in your makeup will do to your complexion. Hopefully Jenner won't have to worry about that, as she said she's trying to get better at taking it off. "Sometimes I forget to take my makeup off if I'm really tired, but I am trying to stop that," she admitted. We suggest you stop it sharpish.
Not using sunscreen enough
It's hard to believe that Aniston has any skincare mistakes she'd admit to, as she has such flawless skin, but there's one thing she recently quit: tanning.
"I gave myself a sun-tanning intervention," the star said. She even went as far to say that she wasn't great at applying sunscreen when she was younger and how it's one of her biggest regrets. Now, though, she uses Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 (£14).
While Botox is common practice among many women, A-list or not, Diaz said how she regretted using it because it changed her face in "such a weird way that I was like, 'No, I don't want to be like that' - I'd rather see my face aging than a face that doesn't belong to me at all."
Getting rid of baby hairs
Although Kardashian West got rid of her baby hairs to stop breakouts along her hairline, the reason why she now wishes she could have them back is because she likes how youthful they look. On her app, she even gave a note of warning, "Ladies, you can always laser your hairline, but I miss mine."
Shaving her face
True, this isn't an obvious choice but it reminds us all that just because something seems like a great idea, in practice, it can be awful. After seeing her dad shaving, at the age of 15, Wilde though it would be a great idea to shave her face. "I took his razor and shaved my face—including my eyebrows. You look like an alien without eyebrows.” So, if you ever think of grabbing a razor to sort out your stray eyebrow hairs, don't. However, you can shave you face for a better complexion. Wearing too much makeup
We can probably all relate to this one of Lucy Hale's. Speaking to Total Beauty, the A-lister admitted that she "wore too much makeup when [she] was too young. Too much bronzer." Hey, we've all been there.
