Though we can’t stress the importance of a proper skincare regimen, we embrace anything that makes the process easier and faster. After all, as much as we’d like to indulge in a 10-step skincare system à la our luminous-skinned peers in Korea, most of the time, we simply don’t have the patience. That’s why Skin Inc.’s My Daily Dose Serum ($90) is changing the skincare game in a major way. A customisable serum that takes all the guesswork out of your skin routine, the unique concept will shrink your ever-growing serum count to—wait for it—just one.
Here’s how it works: You go online, take a short Skin Identity test that asks everything from your geographical location to how easily you burn, and are told which three of the nine customisable Skin Inc. serums are best mixed for your unique skin issues. After purchasing (it costs $90 for three full-size serums and an empty My Daily Dose bottle), the company will send you everything you need so you can mix and match to your heart’s content. You can use the three serums separately (for example, reaching for the Vitamin A serum when your skin is looking dull), or combine them together for a three-in-one punch.
I took the Skin Check test in Singapore at the brand’s launch event, and received three recommended serums: Vitamin A (to banish dullness and tiredness), Vitamin C (to decrease pore size and excess oil), and Ceramide (to strengthen my skin’s protective barrier and soothe sensitivity). Each serum’s magical goodness is condensed into the brand’s special encapsulation technology (hence, the cool-looking beads), so that no two products ever counteract each other and every ingredient is at its utmost potency when applied.
I mixed the three serums into my My Daily Dose bottle, gleeful at the opportunity to play scientist. The serum was incredibly light, and sank into my skin immediately. After a week of using my customised concoction, I saw a pesky breakout disappear, and a less oily, more even skin tone. On days when my skin needs an extra boost, I’ll seal the serum in with the brand’s Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask ($75), one of my go-to overnight masks (like everything else in the line, it’s paraben-free and scent-free—perfect for anyone with sensitive skin). It’s become my go-to serum for when I travel, partly because it condenses my beauty kit, but mainly because I like seeing my oily, breakout-prone skin behave with the help of just one super-smart product.
