Rose Byrne's Grey-Blue Smoky Eye Is A Total Show Stopper

Smoky eyes usually take two forms—an inky, black, and dramatic for nighttime, or softly smudged and warm for daytime. Rose Byrne’s grey-blue version from the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards last week falls somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, and we’re absolutely smitten. “Rose had a modern ‘70s vibe going on tonight, so I wanted to keep her makeup really clean, cool, and chic,” makeup artist Georgie Eisdell says.

To start, she used Laura Mercier’s Matte Eye Shadow ($23) in Buttercream over Byrne’s eyelids for a flawless base. Then came some product mixology: she mixed Laura Mercier’s Matte Eyeshadow ($23) in Twilight Grey with Nars’ Eye Shadow ($25) in Namibia to get the perfect medium shade of grey. “I put this colour over her lid, blending into the crease slightly to create a smoky effect,” Eisdell says. “[Then] I brought the colour under her eyes to create a deeper smoky effect, graduating from stronger to lighter toward the inner corner under the eye.” To finish her smoky eye, she swiped three coats of CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara ($9) in Black over Byrne’s lashes.

And as for that perfect nude lipstick? Eisdell names Hourglass’ Femme Nude Lip Colour ($30) in #4 as the product in question. To finish, she used Tom Ford Bronzing Powder ($95) in Terra very lightly on Byrne’s forehead, cheekbones, and chin to add warmth—the perfect complement to the cool undertones of her smoky eye!
