Undoubtedly, last night's Met Gala red carpet was certainly a spectacle, as the guests didn't just embrace the "Heavenly Bodies" theme—they all-out embodied it, wearing halos and crosses like they were going out of fashion. But when we managed to avert our attention from the truly extra outfits, we also sized up plenty of beauty looks that might actually translate into the real world, if no longer paired with religious garb (these were our favourite of all the hair and makeup looks from the Met Gala 2018). The most poignant example of this was indeed Rihanna. Yes, it was hard to see past her (somewhat sacrilegious) pearl-encrusted papal mitre, but look a little closer and it becomes clear that her makeup was just as heavenly, if for completely different reasons.

Just as you'd expect, Rihanna's complexion was suitably glowy in all the right places and it was all thanks to Priscilla Ono, Fenty Beauty global makeup artist. How she achieved such other-worldly perfection? We have the full 411.
Ono started by lacing Rihanna's skin with Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer (£24) to mop up any extra shine and lay down a smooth foundation for the products that followed. Next, she applied the brand's Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (£26) which, if you haven't used before, is a really comfortable matte-finish foundation with plenty of coverage—just what you need for the fanciest night of the New York calendar.
Next, Ono used Match Stix Matte Skinstick in Truffle (£21) which is a few shades deeper than Rihanna's skin tone. These easy-to-use sticks are super blendable and so when applied around the edge of the face and in the hollows of the cheeks, they can give a face natural-looking definition. On the lips, Ono applied Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Spanked (£16) adding a little extra shimmer on the top, giving the look a '90s nod.
And then the final and arguably most important step was the Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting
Powder (£24)—a translucent powder that works with any and every skin tone to diffuse the look of pores and to absorb any surplus shine.
