If ever there were a look spotted on the catwalk that we immediately wanted to rush home and copy, it was definitely the vintage glam at Rachel Zoe's A/W 16 presentation today. The hair and makeup created a romantic look that coincided perfectly with the "1930s glamour with a '90s attitude" vibe of the collection.
Tresemmé stylist Jeanie Syfu perfectly embodied the juxtaposition between "androgyny and romance," as Zoe herself explains, by creating a messy half-updo consisting of double fishtail braids. First the hair was prepped with Tresemmé Perfectly Undone Wave Creation Sea Foam (£6) and Tresemmé Perfectly Undone Sea Salt Spray (£6) throughout roots and lengths. Next, strands were blow-dried to enhance hair’s natural texture. Then, to start the two sections of braids, a purposely messy center part was created. Stylists then gently teased the front sections at the roots to give added lift, then created a fishtail braid along both sides, leaving out some wispy fringe along the hairline.
Next, both braids were gathered at the back of the head and merged into one single braid, secured with an elastic. To get that pancaked effect, the braids were pulled apart with the fingers to widen and undo a few loose strands, then sprayed with Tresemmé Perfectly Undone Brushable Hold Hairspray (£6).
For that dreamy makeup, it was all about mixing different colours. MAC makeup artists applied Mineralize Blush (£19) in Warm Soul and Love Thing on the cheeks and eyelids, and for that crimson lip, they pressed MAC Lipstick (£16) in All Fired Up and Dare You with a bit of Aubergenius from the new Trend Forecast Lip Palette onto the pout. No perfectly lined lips here—the colour was feathered out with a fluffy brush for a softer effect. On the lashes, just a bit of False Lash Mascara (£19) was swiped on to finish everything off. Simply gorgeous!
