Four weeks of shows have flown by in a whirlwind of hairspray and lashings of kohl liner (and we do mean lashings). As editors, with an eagle eye on the shows from every city, we have a solid idea of what the beauty trends will be come Milan, but Paris cements them.
What have we learnt from the shows across the channel this week? That the beauty next season is set to have a romantic and beautifully gothic feel to it. Black liner is 100% the key makeup look for next autumn, although as with every trend these days, how you decide to wear it is open to interpretation. In fact, the shows in every city—like the season before—celebrated models' individuality. Makeup artists had them picking their own products (such as the lipstick shade at Charlotte Simone in London) or choosing some girls to flaunt different looks to the lineup (at Mugler nine out of the 34 girls wore orange slashed across eyelids).
Brows are a focus once again. At some shows they were worn big and bushy (Mugler and Marant) while at other shows this season brows made a statement by being bleached out entirely. And while red lips are always in fashion for autumn, we're excited by the deep, dark berry tones painted onto lips at Vivienne Westwood and Dior. Dame Viv has always encouraged an anarchic spirit, but if Dior's doing it then it will be du jour—mark our words (and lips). Dark lips in progress at Vivienne Westwood.
Re-create this bold orange eye at Mugler using MAC Pigment (£16) in Neo-Orange.
Brushed up brows at Mugler. Keep yours groomed with Anastasia Beverley Hills Clear Brow Gel (£17).
At Chloé the beauty look had a '70s feel.
The easiest way to wear liner—apply a kohl pencil to your water line and smudge under your lower lashes for a lived-in finish.
Brows took centre stage at Isabel Marant, although we're also loving this fascinator. The hair accessory trend will be big from now until next year. Here's how to wear them and still look grown-up.
At Dior, Kendall Jenner proves that a dark grape lip and spidery lashes can be beautiful. Peter Philips used the A/W 16 makeup collection, and we can foresee the Rouge Dior Lipstick in Poison being a major sellout. In the meantime re-create the look using MAC Matte Lipstick (£16) in Instigator.
And it totally works on us non-Kardashian/Jenners too!
