Ombré hair these days sometimes gets bad press. The shocking cousin of balayage, it's a more block-style colouring technique that usually consists of a lighter hue on the bottom half of the hair with a darker look on top. Balayage, in contrast, gives off a sun-kissed vibe—a much more subtle dye job. As a result, you might be forgiven for thinking it's not as cool. But thanks to 2017's spin, there's a new way to do it that's way more exciting and comes A-list approved.
Instead of a classic transition from brown to light brown/blonde ombré, bolder colours are in. Think Gigi Hadid with pink hair (pictured above) and you're there. And if you need further proof that this trend will take off, then allow us to point you in the direction of Google trends, which has seen a sharp increase in searches for pink ombré this summer. But it's not just pink; London salon Bleach has showcased a tonne of bold-coloured ombré looks, which we're also loving. Keep scrolling to see the new way to do ombré, and if that's not your thing you can check out the classic ombré looks on the A-list for inspo.
