Lip gloss wasn’t exactly a staple in my makeup bag—too sticky and quick to fade—until I got ahold of OCC Stained Gloss ($18) in Dune. Lo and behold, this gloss, which has the colour intensity of the brand’s cult-favourite lip tar, but with a translucent, glossy finish, is making me seriously reconsider my teenage beauty staple.
Unlike most lip glosses, it has a light, smooth texture that isn’t sticky in the slightest—finally, a gloss that doesn’t attract pesky stray hairs. One of six shades from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic’s Summer 2014 Stained Gloss collection, Dune has a light beige, metallic gold shimmer. After moisturizing my lips, I layered it over MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Coral Bliss ($16), using Make Up For Ever’s 304 Lip Brush ($25). Though it comes with a precision tip, using a lip brush allowed for a smoother application. My lips glistened with a gorgeous, peachy champagne colour that easily took me from day to night. Plus, the colour is so vibrant that it can also be worn on its own. Another unexpected note—its fresh, minty scent. And finally, I love that it can double as a translucent stain for your cheeks—dab a little of the product above your cheeks for instant glowing, chiselled cheekbones. Who knew such a small package could pack a big punch?
