Glamour did just that, asking a handful of A-list trainers and fitness gurus which moves they never skip during their own workouts. And we have to say we’re pleasantly surprised at how straightforward they are!

Bobby and Alicia Strom—the trainers behind Scarlett Johansson’s bod—rely on different squat variations for quick toning. For Bobby, it’s the Bulgarian split squat: Your back foot is elevated on a bench (almost like lunge form) as you lower down. Alicia prefers a superman squat, which involves balancing on one foot with your arms up. (You can see proper form here.)
David Kirsch (Heidi Klum’s go-to guy) and Anna Kaiser (a favorite of Sofia Vergara and Kelly Ripa) both love this full-body move (and trust us—a regular plank practice is one of the quickest ways to get the abs of your dreams). To take it to the next level, try Kaiser’s preferred variation: plank jacks, which basically combines jumping jacks and planks. We’re sweating just watching this how-to.
Trainer Ashley Borden is all about lunges because there are so many variations—and thus the opportunity to hit all sorts of muscle groups for an all-inclusive workout. Try walking lunges, and add some five-pound dumbbells for good measure.
4. Dead Lifts
Julianne Hough swears by Astrid Swan’s strength-centric workouts, and the trainer counts this as her favorite move. Proper form is more necessary than how much weight (or how many reps) you’re doing, so make sure you’re doing it right.
