Backstage at fashion week tends to be information overload: Between watching the looks come together, intently observing the makeup and hair experts for their most genius tips and hacks, and wanting to steal just about any intel from every model ever, there's a lot to learn—and we do our best to absorb it all. So when we noticed that at several shows, many cat-walkers were clutching the same detox drinks as they prepped for the runway, needless to say, it got our attention.
First off, the coconut water trend shows no signs of flagging—it's been available at the majority of shows team Byrdie has been to, complete with fancy straws (isn't that half the fun?). In fact, it might be safe to blame NYFW for the impending coconut shortage that's about to befall us. (Joking, but it really has been at a lot of shows.)
But PopSugar also peeped a certain new-to-us detox tea in the hands of models at Rebecca Minkoff, Misha Nonoo, and Nanette Lepore, among others. Keep reading to find out what it is!
Sure, the idea of tea as a detox drink is nothing new. But the fascinating story behind this brand in particular was that it was literally created with New York Fashion Week models in mind. The company's founder, Theresa Krier, worked backstage as the manager of a hair brand for many seasons before realising that the options for models to stay hydrated before each show were rather limited. And thus, Big T was born. Krier even consulted with physicians to ensure that each blend offers as many health benefits as possible.
And now for the best news: Models might get first dibs on a lot of things at fashion week, but these teas are already available to the public. Stock up, close your eyes, and sip—for just a minute, you can pretend you're sitting in the makeup chair getting ready for your runway debut.
