In our new series My Life in Beauty, we’ll be asking the industry experts with a wealth of beauty knowledge to share with us the contents of their makeup bags and bathroom cabinets (because, who doesn’t love a good nose?), as well as the treatments they book on repeat. First up—Liz Hambleton, editorial director at Treatwell and former beauty director at Grazia, takes us inside her beautiful world.
Concealer: I couldn't live without Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer (£19) in Sand. I have naturally dark under eyes, and this is the only concealer I've ever used that covers, doesn't dry up and stays fresh all day.
BB Cream: Makeup artist Wendy Rowe got me hooked on Burberry Fresh Glow BB Cream (£30). If you've ever struggled to channel the dewy Burberry girl complexion, this will do it for you.
Tinted Moisturiser: Skin is my thing! I love to mix a few drops of Lancôme's Hydra Zen Beauty Balm Neurocalm (£30) with the above Burberry product to get the perfect natural base. I get so many compliments when I wear this combination so it must be working.
Multipurpose Palette: Can't do a smoky eye? Neither can I. Yet somehow when I smudge the metallic brown shade from Charlotte Tilbury's Filmstar On The Go Palette (£42) in Rebel Without A Cause onto my eyes, I turn into a smoky-eyed siren—it's foolproof. The cream blush makes for a great everyday pop of colour.
Mascara: If you like a low-key lash then Blinc's Mascara (£22) is the mascara for you. It defines and lengthens without overloading your lashes with product. It only comes off with hot water and a spot of light pressure, which makes it hot yoga, pool, beach and sweat-proof.
Lip Balm: I have hundreds of Maybelline Baby Lips (£3). I literally can't get enough of them and keep one in just about every handbag I own.
I keep my collection of Les Exclusifs de Chanel on my dressing table (Beige and Sycomore are my favourites). The rest of my fragrances I house in the drawers of my vintage dressing table. I love fragrances. Highlights of my fragrance stash include a bespoke Jasmine and Sandalwood Ex Nihilo scent, Original by Anja Rubik (£60) and Helmut Lang Eau de Cologne (£130).
Under-bed plastic storage boxes keep my stash out of the way, out of direct sunlight and airtight!
(Ed Note: Spot the cat!)
As you can see I have a lot of products, most of these tend to be skin related and take the shape of an oil. Rodin, Sisley, Nude and Clarins top my list of oils. Neal's Yard oils and balms make brilliant bathroom cabinet essentials.
Environ is my anti-aging brand of choice: Their AVST moisturiser has changed my skin.
Facials: I regularly book in for Environ Vitamin Active Facials to help brighten my skin and repair sun damage.
Spa Days: Espa Life at Corinthia is my favourite spa in London. I could spend days in there just steaming, swimming, relaxing and hanging out. I'm a huge fan of their personalised massages. Bliss.
Extras: In keeping with my low-key lash policy, this LVL Lashes lash Perm and Lift treatment boosts my natural lashes and allows me to skip lash curlers altogether.
