French brand Paul & Joe’s S/S 15 runway was undoubtedly influenced by the ‘70s, filled with paisley prints, earthy shades, and flowy fabrics—and the makeup on the models followed suit. When we caught a glimpse of the lashed-out, romantic look on Lindsey Wixson, our mascara-loving hearts soared. We spoke with the makeup director for the show, Georgina Graham, and asked her to break down this fresh new take on boho chic. Keep scrolling to see what she said!
“The [makeup] look for the Paul & Joe S/S 15 show had a fresh, modern ‘70s feel taken from the collection, with long fluttery lashes and glowing, bronzed skin,” Graham tells us. “[It was] inspired by women such as Lauren Hutton and Jane Birkin.” To add soft dimension to Wixson’s eyes, she used Paul & Joe Beauté's Eye Color Trio ($34) in Le Film, then opened up her eyes by drawing along her bottom waterline with the brand’s Waterproof Eyeliner ($20) in Incandescent, a shimmery nude shade.
“The socket was defined with a blended out, dark brown pencil, and lips were a perfect natural nude,” Graham says. She used the brand’s Lipstick ($20) in Mimi, a peachy-nude color, on Wixson.
The secret to Wixson’s lush lashes? “Mascara, mascara, and more mascara!” Graham says. “Make sure the lashes are curled first, and then build up the layers of mascara, making sure to define and fan out the lashes as you do.” For the show, she used the black side of the Paul & Joe Beauté's Waterproof Mascara ($24).
Every lash-heavy look needs to be balanced out with a touch of color on the cheeks. Graham says that cream color is easier to blend, and will give a seamless, glowing finish. She used Paul & Joe’s Creamy Cheek Powder ($28) in Kitten; CK One’s Cream + Powder Blush Duo ($25) and Jouer’s Cheek Tint ($20) are two other great options.
