Kendall Jenner’s white-hot career hit an all-time high earlier this year: The supermodel graced the cover of U.S. Vogue’s September issue. (Leave it to Jenner to nab not just any Vogue cover, but the mag’s most iconic month of the year.) And with today being Jenner's 20th birthday, we can’t help but think back to the days—nearly a decade ago—when we knew her best as the gangly 11-year-old who made the occasional cameo on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. (Remember when she first presented her parents with a makeshift modelling portfolio?)
The years have brought a lot of success for Jenner, but they also mark quite the beauty evolution. With this in mind, we thought it only appropriate to journey back to the beginning to see how far she’s come.

Jenner was just 11 years old when we were first introduced to the Kardashian clan—and note then-10-year-old Kylie, too!
At first, both of the younger Jenners’s red carpet appearances were relatively rare.
Here, a 13-year-old Jenner made an appearance at the ESPYs—her first of many.
As seen at the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (ah, memories), this was the year that Jenner debuted a more grown-up look.
Who can forget Jenner’s runway debut for Sherri Hill?
And off the catwalk, she favoured long lashes and loose waves, much like the rest of her fam.
And so began a love affair with red lipstick. (Get the look with Nars’s Audacious Lipstick in Lana, £24).
At the American Music Awards, Jenner showed off the hairstyle that has since become her signature: sleek, center-parted locks à la Ali MacGraw.
Are you sensing a theme here? Pin-straight, centre-parted hair: check. Porcelain skin: check. Creamy red lip: check.
This was also the year that Jenner began booking extremely high-profile runway shows from Marc Jacobs to Tommy Hilfiger, seen here.
After a stunning turn on the Met Gala red carpet, Jenner nabbed headlines for her sparkling, side-laced gown—but we can’t keep our eyes off of her creamy skin and glossy locks. (Keep your own mane flyaway-free with Moroccanoil’s Smoothing Lotion, £30.)
Her Vogue cover might be a high point of 2016, but Jenner fulfilled another longstanding career goal last year when she finally walked the Victoria’s Secret catwalk.
In addition to her spins on the red carpet and the runway, off-duty beauty is something Jenner does very well—perpetually proving that sometimes there’s nothing prettier than keeping things fresh and minimal.
All in all, she’s come a long way from awkward tween to household name and unstoppable beauty inspiration.
