If you spend a lot of time on the internet then you'll know that there are certain stories that go viral, particularly when it comes to one of the best-loved A-list celebrities in the world. One story that did the rounds a couple of weeks ago was the news that Keira Knightley now has to wear wigs. There were two reasons why we found this odd because a) clearly her hair is real and b) it's long and luscious-looking. However, many jumped to the conclusion that the star was losing her hair. But that was simply not the case. And Knightley was just as confused about that news as we were.
At a Chanel dinner in New York this week, the A-lister disclosed how perplexed she was by the whole affair, clearing up a load of conflicting messages and hopefully avoiding plenty of awkward dinner party chat (can you imagine?). Speaking to The Cut, she revealed how she'd been receiving products for female baldness.
"I have received a big box of things for female baldness, and I had no idea what that was about," said the star. The mystery gets stranger and stranger. To find out the truth behind the rumours, keep scrolling to read more of what Knightley thought about the news and what's really going on with her hair.
In the quick chat, Knightley cleared up any confusion about her wig-wearing, which was very much what we suspected all along:
"[It's] for films. I do wear wigs for films."
In fact, she even revealed that since she was pregnant she's experienced the exact opposite—she's got loads more hair.
"Do you know what is actually happening? Since being pregnant, I have got ten times more of it. I thought it would fall out, because a lot of women have that and it falls out, and mine still hasn’t yet, so I was sort of thinking, Okay, I’ll keep it long and when and if it falls out, I’ll cut it off and that will be cool because then I could have a bob. I am waiting for that to happen, but fortunately it hasn’t yet."
So there you have it. A great internet mystery is once again solved.
