If your skin is looking slightly on the dull side after all this cold weather, we have a simple and quick fix for you. In just five easy steps, and for minimal cost, you can make a turmeric and lemon face mask at home. For years, turmeric has been used in Eastern cultures thanks to its antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It's also a potent skin brightener, called on for its ability to even out the skin tone and help remove dark pigmentation caused by acne.
The high content of vitamin C and citric acid in lemon will give your complexion a brighter appearance. It's also lovely to know exactly what's in your skincare—no artificial colours or chemicals here. This mask is delicate enough to use under your eyes to brighten dark circles. The moisturising and soothing honey will also give your skin a healthy looking glow. Tempted to give it a try? Read on for the step-by-step.
Place 70 grams of rolled oats in a blender and blitz for about 20 seconds, until fine.
Add the oats to your bowl with all the other ingredients, and mix with a spoon until combined.
You’re looking for a paste-like mixture. If it’s too thick, simply squeeze in a splash more lemon juice and mix again.
Spoon the mixture into your jar.
If you want to add a label, you can download ours. Print this onto your sticky-back paper—cut it out, peel off the back and press down firmly on the front of your jar.
To use, apply the mask evenly around your face and, if desired, under-eye area. You can use a brush or your fingertips to apply. Remember to rub in circular motions with your fingers to make the most of the oats' exfoliating texture. Leave on for five minutes, then rinse off thoroughly with warm water. Store in a cool, dry place. If the mask becomes dry between using, simply add a few drops of water and stir.
