When we saw Elizabeth Olsen hit the red carpet for the L.A. premiere of her latest film, Godzilla, we knew we wanted to copy her beauty look—immediately! What’s the secret behind her daytime-appropriate, soft smoky eye? It turns out, it’s all about balancing your eye colour with bronzy products; blush, brow gel, and even lipstick. In fact, everything makeup artist Kate Lee used on the actress has the same pearly finish and a warm brown undertone.
“For this look we wanted to channel Bianca Jagger and scene from the Studio 54 days,” Goodwin says. “So I went with a smoky, burgundy eye with a mulberry lip.”

Lee gave Olsen an even complexion by sparingly applying Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet Smooth-Effect Makeup ($45) only where the actress needed light coverage. Buff with a damp sponge for a light finish.
Instead of a pink-based blush, Lee opted for Chanel’s Cream Blush ($38) in Destiny, and applied it under Olsen’s cheekbones for a contoured look. For a similar effect, try Flower Beauty’s Win Some Rouge Some Crème Blush ($8) in Rose-o-den-dron.
Lee then added highlighter to Olsen’s cheekbones to complete the Bianca Jagger-inspired, contoured look. Lee dabbed Make Up For Ever’s Uplight Face Luminizer Gel ($29) onto the top of the actress’ cheeks, and blended any harsh lines for a subtle radiance.
Lee started Olsen’s smoky eye by building depth with the burgundy hue from Chanel’s Quadra Eyeshadow ($59) in Eclosion. “Feather it out along the socket line and through the bottom lashline,” Lee says. Next, she layered the brand’s Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow ($36) in New Moon over Olsen’s lid for a shimmery finish.
Lee added a few coats of Chanel’s Inimitable Waterproof Mascara ($30) in Noir to Olsen’s top and bottom lashes.
To balance Olsen’s shimmery shadow, Lee defined the actress’ brows with Anastasia’s Tinted Brow Gel ($22) in Caramel.
