We love any celebration that involves imbibing delicious libations, so naturally, Cinco de Mayo tops the list (followed shortly by St. Patrick’s Day and our own birthdays). After all, there’s nothing better than celebrating the Mexican army’s victory at the Battle of Puebla than cheers-ing with a tart, ice-cold margarita. To help us celebrate in a healthier fashion this year, we enlisted the help of our friends over at Pressed Juicery, who shared a crisp, refreshing grapefruit margarita recipe using one of their cold-pressed juices. (If you aren’t lucky enough to have a Pressed in your vicinity, feel free to substitute your favourite grapefruit juice instead.) See the recipe below!
Pressed Juicery Grapefruit Mint Margarita
- 1 oz. tequila
- 1 oz. triple sec
- ½ lime (cut into slices)
- 5½ oz. Pressed Juicery’s Citrus 3 (grapefruit, mint)
- 1 fresh mint leaf
1. Muddle the lime slices in the bottom of a 16-oz. glass.
2. Pour triple sec, tequila, and juice into the glass.
3. Fill the glass with ice and then pour into a cocktail shaker; shake ingredients.
4. Wet the rim of the glass and add salt to the rim.
5. Pour the drink back into the glass, and garnish with a lime wedge and fresh mint.
*Note from Pressed Juicery: The exact caloric value of this drink depends on the type of tequila and triple sec you use, but it should be fewer than 250 calories per drink. It’s also important to note that because you’re incorporating cold-pressed juices, the sugars you are getting from the juices are natural and not of the high-fructose corn syrup variety.
