Go Buy Now: Boscia's Konjac Cleansing Sponge

There aren’t many Asian beauty imports I don’t fall for—BB cream, oil face wash—you name it and I love it. Why? Most Eastern imports are incredibly gentle and rooted in natural, holistic skincare—a win-win for any skin type. The latest stateside arrival has completely changed the way I exfoliate my face.

Boscia’s Konjac Cleansing Sponge ($18) is a totally natural—albeit slightly weird looking—sponge, made from fibres of the kojac root: a potato-like plant historically used for both cooking and beauty products in Asia. When you first unwrap the white circle it’s hard as a rock, but when you run it under water it morphs into a soft, pillowy texture. You use it the same way you’d use a Clarisonic or washcloth. Add your cleanser, then massage it all over your face. It’s as gentle—if not more—than your fingers, which means you can run it over your eyes, on your lashes, and anywhere that requires a soft touch to remove makeup. Your skin ends up soft and smooth without any tightness or irritation.

Make sure to rinse it out fully, then hang it in your bathroom to drip dry. The first time I used it I had to make myself stop after a minute or so; it feels so good you want to keep washing! Each sponge lasts anywhere from 2 to 3 months and can be used morning and evening. Good luck not falling for this one.
