During fashion week, celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin did the hair for Fenton/Fallon’s jewellery presentation and last month she wove a Jennifer Behr headpiece into Khloe Kardashian’s hair for an appearance in Dubai, making her just the person to school us on hair bling.
What’s the key to wearing jewellery in your hair? “It's so important to start with a great foundation and that begins in the shower,” says Atkin, who’s also the spokesperson for Clear. “I love Clear Scalp and Hair Therapy's Frizz Control Shampoo and Conditioner ($5) for this sleek look because it gives great shine and a smooth finish, all the while nourishing hair, scalp to ends. After washing, apply a drop or two of Oribe's Gold Lust Hair Oil ($48) to damp hair and blow dry with a large round brush for a smooth finish and volume.”
Then, Atkin says, use a large curling iron to curl the hair under and brush through with Sonia Kashuk’s Hair Brush ($15). (That’s how you score those full waves.) “Secure the parted side of your hair behind your ear, using bobby pins if you need to, and add a light veil of Oribe's Superfine Hairspray ($36) for a moveable hold.” Now comes the fun part: “Pick out your favourite accessory for your hair and add to the side that's tucked away,” says Atkin.
