In news that will delight lovers of online shopping everywhere (that’s you, dear reader), Glossier founder Emily Weiss has been named the newest Style Council member to join Net-A-Porter’s The Net Set. The social shopping app allows you to peek into the shopping baskets of some of the world’s most stylish women (like Poppy Delevingne, Nicole Warne and Julia Restoin Roitfeld), and buy up a storm alongside them.
To celebrate her Style Council member status, Weiss sat down to answer a few questions for us, revealing everything from where she finds style inspiration to the beauty "trend" she’s feeling most for 2016. Keep scrolling for our exclusive Q&A!
What are your tips for shopping beauty online?
Editorial is a really important tool for discovering beauty, and that’s the whole basis for Into The Gloss. I really value community recommendations and the context provided by editors. So my tip is to find content on beauty that you trust and speaks to you, and let that guide you to the products you ultimately purchase.
Who is your beauty style icon?
This is always changing! Right now there isn’t one style icon—it’s sort of a mix of images and references we have on mood boards around the office. There’s one in particular I am thinking of that is very Mario Testino "Towel Series" inspired. Very clean, beautiful skin—lots of movement and absolutely no makeup.
Which makeup artists do you admire?
I am so inspired by Dick Page’s work in the ‘90s. There are a lot of those images around our office.
How do you experiment with beauty trends and which trends will you be trying out in 2016?
I am more into doing what feels best for you and your skin than I am into trends. So if doing what makes you feel good and proud is a trend, then yes! That is my trend for 2016 and one that we’re very passionate about at Glossier.
How would you describe your overall style?
My overall aesthetic is pretty minimalist, but still polished and chic. I feel most comfortable when I am wearing my go-to Rag & Bone skinny jeans, an oversized cashmere sweater, and the Perfecting Skin Tint and Balm Dotcom (£30).
