The Critics' Choice Awards in Los Angeles may not be as well known as some of the other award ceremonies in the calendar, but that didn't stop the A-List from delivering some standout looks. This year the trend for sculptural hairstyles was especially exciting. While many stars chose a glossy blow-dry or easy-going textured down 'do, it's the stars who were brave enough to rock a real hair "look" that caught our attention. Keep scrolling for the four stars who nailed architectural hair.
From the front, Rosie's hair looks typical of any other sleek red carpet updo—centre parted to perfection without a hair out of place.
But from the side we can see that Rosie's glossy twisted bun, created by Christian Wood, is a step up from the norm. Get that glossy finish with Sachajuan Straight and Shine Spray (£22).
Actress Sarah Paulson proves that short hair can be as interesting and versatile as long hair. A side parting with height and a V-shape of kirby grips (£2) makes this hairstyle a winner, and so easy to re-create.
For simple drama you can't beat a sleek, high ponytail. Paired with look-at-me black liner it's a winning combination.
Bryce's updo is part ponytail / part chignon with an origami effect. Hair needs to be super straight for this look to work. First straighten your hair with the ghd Platinum Styler (£165), then use the Denman D91 Dressing Out Hairbush (£4) to section, smooth and coax the hair into this shape before pinning in place.
