One of the biggest beauty tips that's been drilled into our heads ever since we were teens (and something that we preach ourselves today) is to never, ever sleep with our makeup on. Sure, there have been some nights where we've had a little too much... fun and couldn't muster up the strength to take it off, but we almost always regret it the next morning. Sleeping in makeup causes breakouts and dries out the skin, among many other beauty blunders we'd rather avoid by taking the time to take care of our complexions. So you can only imagine our utter shock when we read that acclaimed celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury doesn't wash her makeup off before bed—ever.
At the InStyle Awards on Monday night, Kim Kardashian (who presented the Makeup Artist of the Year Award to Tilbury) said she, too, sleeps in her makeup from time to time: "Charlotte Tilbury is my hero because she has never let her husband see her without makeup on. She sleeps with her makeup on. She's my idol. She's inspired me when I am really lazy and I can't do my makeup the next day, so I'll sleep in my makeup. I know that's probably the worst advice, but she has all the magic creams to put on the next day to make up for it.” Hmmm... we've seen what our skin looks like after a night of sleeping in foundation, bronzer, powder, and mascara, and we're not sure there are enough creams in the world that could fix what it would do to our face if we left it all on every single night. However, for those few nights when we do forget, we do love treating our skin to Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask ($7) the next morning.
