Being a hairdresser isn’t an easy profession. Being a celebrity hairdresser—someone who constantly travels all over the globe, prepping her clients for events like Cannes and the Oscars or major campaigns with brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton—is even more awe-worthy. Wendy Iles is a celebrity hairdresser in the utmost sense, and then some. The beauty industry vet is the mastermind behind the hair on more Vogue covers than you can count, has worked with red carpet stars like Marion Cotillard and Diane Kruger, and this month is launching her own three-step hair system called Iles Formula, created with years of experience in the hairstyling industry and a keen awareness of her clients’ needs.
“I travel the world for beauty campaigns and my celebrity clientele,” Iles tells us. “On set, I always encounter tortured hair and needed a product that provided instant repair, high performance, and visible results. Since I couldn’t find it, I created my own!” The Shampoo ($33), Conditioner ($39), and Finishing Serum ($44) are made with ingredients like virgin root juices, vitamin B5, silk proteins, and hydrating nut oils sourced from exotic locales like Australia, Brazil, and Morocco and promise to leave all types of hair with her signature “spun silk” finish. In honour of the launch, we asked Iles to share a 48-hour Instagram diary of what her life is really like (hint: hanging with Alessandra Ambrosio and Heidi Klum is involved). I flew in from New York to meet up with Heidi Klum in Frankfort. We had two events that day, along with two hotel changes. Heidi, Linda Hay (the makeup artist), and I all arrived on different flights around lunchtime. We all have a thing about being in Germany in the spring (we love our German asparagus plates), so before settling into work, we ordered delicious asparagus and a good German lunch.
The only hair product I ever need on set is my Iles Formula three-step haircare system. In fact, it’s my celeb clients who have pushed me to go public with my formulations. They’ve experienced results on set for years, and it’s time to bring it to the masses!

From Frankfort, I say goodbye to Heidi and head off to Paris to work with Alessandra Ambrosio. Here, I'm prepping look one on Alessandra’s hair. This look was all about volume and bounce.

And now let me break for a backstage selfie with Alessandra!

Alessandra had to fly back to L.A. the next morning, so she offered me this beautiful bouquet from the client. I’ve been enjoying it ever since!
