Earlier this month, model and actress Cara Delevingne penned an essay for Time's Motto reflecting on her modelling break. She recalls being 20 years old—after nearly four years in the modelling business—and wanting to "reevaluate my life and my goals for my future." Delevingne famously pushed her modelling career aside in 2012 to pursue acting and recently debuted her Saint Laurent campaign via Instagram, surprising many who thought she quit modelling.

Delevingne took to Twitter to clarify to the world that she had never actually quit modelling but instead felt she needed a break due to a very personal issue. "I suffer from depression and was a model during a particularly rough patch of self hatred," she shared. And while she knows how "lucky" she is to be able to model, she admits working in the industry in order to "try and escape and just ended up completely exhausting myself."

The bold-browed beauty is known for her candidness and she has been vocal about mental illness in the past. Delevingne concluded her series of tweets by saying, "I am focusing on filming and trying to learn how to not pick apart my every flaw. I am really good at that."
