The Foundation Hack Beyoncé's Makeup Artist Uses Will Change Your Face

Take a look at Beyoncé's face right now. Go on—google her some more and tell me what you see. I bet you see perfectly blended dewy skin, no cakiness in sight, right? Right. Well, according to her makeup artist, Sir John, we've all been applying our foundation wrong, and the hack he uses for Queen Bey's skin is the way to achieve the ultimate dewiness. Let's discuss. After speaking to PopSugar about the singer's makeup, he revealed the one small change we need to make when it comes to applying our foundation.

Sir John recommends using a wet Beautyblender and applying foundation while your skin is damp from your moisturiser. Applying foundation quickly after your skincare allows your moisturiser and makeup to meld and dry in tandem. Trying to put foundation onto dry skin will cause a "disconnect between how the foundation cements onto your complexion," he notes. So not only are we creating optimal dew here with all that moisture, we're saving time, no more waiting for our skincare to sink in.

I gave it a try this morning, and it actually makes a difference. My foundation blended more easily, and my complexion looked more post-facial than post-makeup. Sir John knows his stuff; you don't become Beyoncé's go-to makeup guy otherwise. He credits L'Oréal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation (£12) and Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (£34) as his favourite foundations, and to be honest, we're with him. But we also feel like It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better (£30) would work flawlessly with this trick.

Give it a go; then come and tell us how it went in our Facebook group, The British Beauty Line.
