There was no shortage of glammed-up celebs this week. Everyone from Carrie Underwood to Lucy Hale brought their A-game. Click through to see which of Hollywood’s stars shined brightest!
Rashida Jones’ braided topknot and cherry red lips are the perfect cool-girl combination. Celebrity hairstylist Kylee Heath created the bun by breaking the actress’ high ponytail into five sections, braiding three and lightly teasing two. “I wrapped each section around the base of the ponytail and pinned them into place, creating a braided messy topknot,” Heath says.
Dakota Johnson rocked glimmering mauve eye shadow and a rosy pout (the handiwork of makeup artist Pati Dubroff) at the LACMA Art + Film Gala this week. Hairstylist Mark Townsend created her voluminous (and braided) faux-hawk.
Lucy Hale channeled Old Hollywood at the Country Music Awards. “With Lucy donning a sleek red Romona Keveza gown, we were immediately inspired to turn her into a classic Hollywood siren,” celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan says. Deenihan blotted one coat of mark. Lipclick Full Color Lipstick ($11) in Cha Cha onto the lips, then topped if off with a dab of mark. Glow Baby Glow Hook Up Lip Gloss ($10) in Blow Kisses.
Hairstylist Sunnie Brook created Agron’s “modern French twist” by blow-drying one-inch sections of hair away from the face, clipping them in place to cool. Texture spray, some light teasing, and a few bobby pins completed the look. The platinum blonde bombshell paired her tousled French twist with dramatic, super-smoky eyes, courtesy of makeup artist Georgie Eisdell.
Joan Smalls attended the 11th Annual CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Awards looking like a breath of fresh air with lilac lids and peachy nude lips. Sleek hair with a center braid was the perfect complement for her romantic makeup.
Carrie Underwood hosted the Country Music Awards looking like a timeless beauty. Makeup artist Melissa Schleicher played up the singer’s hazel eyes with shades of light blue and soft purple, concentrating Almay’s Shadow Softies by Intense i-Color ($5) in Hot Fudge in the crease.
Camila Alves channeled ‘20s vibes for the premiere of Interstellar this week. Celebrity makeup artist Julie Harris kept the look modern by emphasizing the eyes and choosing a lip stain over full-pigment bordeaux lips. “I applied Nars’ Audacious Lipstick ($32) in Liv with my finger to give her a stain of bordeaux color, followed by a hint of By Terry’s Baume De Rose ($60)," Harris says.
