This week, celebs like Diane Kruger and Keira Knightley had laidback, beachy waves on the mind. Flip through the slideshow to see seven summer-ready celeb beauty looks!
Hairstylist Ben Skervin gave Knightley tousled waves at the NYC premiere of her new movie, Begin Again, by using Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse ($6) on her damp strands. Then, he sprayed her hair with the line’s Flexible Hold Hairspray ($4) and used a one-inch curling iron to curl sections of her hair, wrapping her hair down the iron.
Olivia Wilde was glowing in copper eyeshadow and a subtle nude lip, thanks to makeup artist Julie Harris. Her hairstylist, Rebekah Forecast, applied an anti-frizz milk through Wilde's damp strands to keep the look smooth and sleek, then finished by curling sections with a one and a half-inch iron.
Makeup artist Melanie Inglessis gave Lea Michele a wine lip before the actress/singer went on stage and performed with Kristin Chenoweth at the opening night of the Hollywood Bowl.
“Ashley [was] wearing a gorgeous, knee-length white dress,” hairstylist Richard Collins says. “We decided to go for a straight, sleek look, which [looked] amazing with the dress.” He used Leonar Greyl’s Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice ($46) on her wet hair and massaged it into her strands with his hands. Then, he blew dry her hair and straightened it with a flat iron. Finally, he smoothed Leonor Greyl’s Éclat Naturel ($46) on the top of her hair and along her bangs to add shine.
Emmy Rossum went for a slightly mod-inspired look at the 4th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards, with light blue eyeliner and a pale pink lip. Celeb hairstylist (and resident Byrdie hair expert) Jen Atkin styled Rossum’s strands into smooth, slightly-tousled waves.
Jennifer Garner is living proof that straight-across bangs can work on an adult—if you know how to style them.
Hairstylist Kylee Heath gave Diane Kruger perfect waves at the Paley Center’s screening of her show, The Bridge. First, he sprayed Leonor Greyl’s Spray Structure Naturelle ($38) and Original Mineral’s Atonic Thickening Spray ($26) through her hair, then blew her hair out using an Ibiza boar bristle round brush. After wrapping sections around a 1 ¼-inch iron, he spritzed Oscar Blandi’s Lacca Hairspray ($25) in Kruger’s strands to keep everything in place, and smoothed flyaways with Kevin Murphy’s Easy Rider Anti-Frizz Hair Cream ($33).
