You know fall has officially arrived when celebs start swapping bronzer for rosy blush, shimmery gloss for velvety taupes, and beachy waves for sleek ponies. Exhibits A through Z: every single one of the ladies in this week’s best beauty roundup. If rich jewel tones and expertly flicked cat-eyes are your thing, keep scrolling to see the most stunning beauty looks from Jennifer Hudson, January Jones, and more!
Leave it to Megan Fox to prove that matching your lipstick to your dress is anything but passé. Makeup artist Monika Blunder filled in Fox’s lips with Stila’s Long Wear Lip Liner ($6) in #25, then topped it off with Hourglass’ Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick ($30) in Icon.
Just when you think Reese Witherspoon is all soft pinks and shimmer, she surprises everyone with vampy eyes and a bold red lip—and looks amazing, no less. “I wanted to create a look that had an edgy, seductive allure,” makeup artist Molly R. Stern explains. For Witherspoon’s red lip, Stern reached for Clinique’s Quickliner for Lips ($16) in Chili, then topped it off with the line’s Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($17) in Roomiest Rose. “A sheer, bright raspberry color adds pop without feeling heavy!” she says.
A flipped-out, chin-grazing bob never looked so good. Hairstylist Mara Roszak (also responsible for Stone’s cut) used L’Oréal Paris’ Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Blow Out Heat Spray ($5) on Stone’s damp strands, then rough-dried with a blow-dryer for tousled texture.
“The inspiration for the look was a sleek Parisian ponytail,” hairstylist Cervando Maldonado says of Rossum’s low pony. Maldonado used a Harry Josh Blowdryer ($300) and Iron ($250) to straighten Rossum’s hair, then applied Osmo’s Clay Wax ($10) through her strands to tame flyaways.
Hudson stunned on the red carpet at the 20th Annual Fulfillment Fund Stars Benefit Gala with purple lips, lush lashes, and just a hint of glitter. For a similar lipstick shade, try Laqa & Co’s Lip Lube ($18) in Menatour.
It’s been a while since JLaw graced a red carpet with her presence (well, a month or so, but who’s counting?), and naturally she pulled off her re-emergence with aplomb. Makeup artist Mary Greenwell turned her into an Old Hollywood goddess with warm taupes and hints of eggplant on her lids. Hairstylist Sam McKnight finished off the look with retro curls and a deep side part.
We’re going to go out on a limb and say that January Jones is one of the few people in the world that can make a perky updo and center-parted bangs look grown-up and chic (her ‘do comes courtesy of hairstylist Gregory Russell).
