One of television's biggest nights, the Emmy Awards promises plenty of entertainment, the right measure of suspense, and glimpses of our favourite stars all glammed up. While we'll be eagerly awaiting to see who goes home with the gold at this year's Emmys, we admit that what we might be the most excited about is who's winning on the red carpet. For us, the most eye-popping moments of the evening occur before the ceremonies even kick off—when we're served a heavy dose of beauty inspiration from the leading ladies we love.
Here are the most showstopping beauty looks from the 68th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
The model and actress's look smouldered with a metallic smoky eye in electric shades of blue. Makeup artist Hung Vanngo took inspiration from Ratajkowski's Zac Posen gown for the look, using Lorac's Front of the Line Pro Eye Pencil in Navy and Aqua and Lorac Pro Palette 2 and 3. Vanngo says he kept the rest of the makeup natural and subtle "to keep it modern."
Nominated for her work in Fargo, Kirsten Dunst radiated Old Hollywood glamour with soft sideswept waves and a berry lip. Hairstylist Renato Campora achieved the actress's silky, '50s-inspired finger wave by distributing Kenra Platinum Revive Oil (£19) after blow-drying. He set her screen-siren tresses using Kenra Platinum Finishing Spray (£37). For the actress's berry pout, makeup artist Pati Dubroff applied Laura Mercier Sheer Lip Colour in Tender Lips (£24) and emphasised the Cupid's bow with Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Plumberry (£19).
For the Game of Thrones star, hairstylist Adir Abergel created a modern take on the classic updo by incorporating structural build using Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice (£25) and finishing with hair spray over the entire look.
Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez, who was inspired by Kerry Washington's hair, says she would describe the actress's beauty look as "classic with an edge and a touch of a '70s vibe." She used Neutrogena liquid foundation for the Emmy nominee's radiant glow.
Makeup artist Allan Avendaño followed a "less is more" approach when it came to Sarah Hyland's beauty look so that it wouldn't compete with her ornate Monique Lhuillier ensemble. He kept things subtle yet fresh for the Modern Family star with a gold liner detail on the eye, layering L'Oréal Paris Infallible Silkissime Liner in Silver (£8) with Infallible 24 Hr Eyeshadow in Eternal Sunshine (£13) for a warm golden hue.
The actress complemented her tangerine Prabal Gurung gown with a dramatic coral lip and peachy-pink blush.
The Homeland actress was in head-to-toe gold, matching her glittering Schiaparelli dress with her voluminous long bob. Hairstylist Peter Butler created lift by spraying Leonor Greyl Voluforme (£19) onto the roots in sections.
A lady in red, Priyanka Chopra had help from makeup artist Yumi Mori to achieve a matching bold lip, none other than Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in Rouge Charnel (£26). The actress's go-to hairstylist, Castillo created her sleek ponytail using a Ghd Paddle Brush (£20) and Mop Orange Peel Molding Cream (£20).
The actress added a pop of colour with purple liner along the bottom lash and earth-toned shadow on top.
"I wanted her to look like a flawless goddess," says makeup artist Simone Almekias-Siegl of Kristen Bell, and it appears that she succeeded. Almekias-Siegl gave the actress a fresh dewy glow by applying bronzer directly to the apples of Bell's cheeks.
The Orange Is the New Black star was in pure gold wearing a bronze-toned lip and accenting her eyes with a pop of yellow.
The model and Project Runway host's nail look was a custom-blended colour by nail artist Tom Bachik. For the first coat, he applied L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Collection Exclusive in Julliane's Nude, then followed with the same in Doutzen's Nude.
Three coats of Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in Black (£11) were applied to Sofia Vergara's lashes by makeup artist Kayleen McAdams to achieve next-level volume.
The Top Chef host went bold with a bright fuchsia lip echoed by a subtle flush of pink at the eyes and cheekbones.
Taking a cue from her onscreen character, Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner wore her long golden locks in a loose braid purposely coming undone around her face to frame her warm-toned smoky eye and highlighted cheekbones.
The actress let her loose waves frame her fresh-faced, natural look, which featured just a touch of colour in the cheeks, a swipe of mascara, and a bold brow.
The triple threat let her piercing blue eyes be the star of the show in glowing bronzed makeup and slicked-backed hair.
