We've all been there… You dust on the perfect smoky eye, and proud of your handiwork, you tread carefully to apply the mascara to your lashes, knowing full well that one false move could lead to a smudge of mascara on your eyelid.
Nine times out of 10, we nudge our eyelid and have to precariously attempt to repair the eye shadow. I'm pretty sure it's not just me; in fact, it can't just be me because backstage at the Angelo Marani show during Haute Couture Week in Paris, one makeup artist used an easy, super-clever hack to prevent such an error. It's so simple, in fact, that I don't know why I never thought of it before.
Et voilà! The makeup artist used a small fold-out mirror to act as a shield between the model's lashes and the eyelids. You could use anything—the lid of a makeup palette, a business or credit card—just as long as it's fairly sturdy and narrow enough to fit. No more mascara mishaps, phew!
Need a new mascara? We're loving Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara (£35) right now.
