Autumn is here, and to make us feel better about summer being but a distant memory, we've started really embracing our A/W wardrobe. But no new-season attire is quite right without the finishing touches, and that's the perfect manicure in the hottest new shades.
While the warmer weather might see you with bare nude nails that look incredible, thanks to a holiday tan or anarchic brights that you can get away with on the beach, come September, you'll want to shift your focus in line with the new fashion mood.
To help, we've had a look at some of the chicest and biggest colour trends on the catwalks for the upcoming season. Our research led us to the conclusion that there are five big shades you'll want in your wardrobe and on your fingertips.

Pink: Fluoro and Dusky
Of course pink is a big trend for the upcoming season. We predict it'll hang around for longer than that, too, but the really big news is that it's not just about that millennial hue. From fluoros to dusky pinks, Valentino's A/W 17 show gave us plenty of inspo.

Green: Anything Goes
Green nails are pretty divisive. No one wants to look like the Wicked Witch of the West. But when there are so many options to choose from that will perfectly complement your outfit, it's hard not to love it. From mints to jades, as well as emeralds, there's bound to be a green hue to suit every taste.

Ideal for someone who is keen on a more sophisticated approach to nail polish, this is the grown-up way to do it. Avoid overly orange reds, and try the quieter shades that are slightly darker and don't scream "look at me" and more "come hither."

Purple: Lilacs and Violet
Purple will be big for this coming season, trust us. From Mulberry to Marni and Miu Miu, this colour took centre stage on the A/W 17 catwalks. Whether you prefer a lilac or a more regal violet, there are a couple of ways to try the look that will turn heads.

Blue: Metallic and Royal
You'll probably realise by now that bold colours are a big deal for this coming season. Say goodbye to sombre hues for the colder months, and embrace more shocking shades. Blue is yet another colour that can be polarising, but we're quite looking forward to trying out the darker, more metallic azul for the festive season.
