I Will Use This £13 Liquid Highlighter for as Long as I Live
Topshop's little round Glow pot is a staple in my makeup bag. Has been for years. And now Glow is expanding to include a liquid version. Now, if you've tried the original you may be thinking, Why? Why do I need another highlighter? And I was the same. I love that pot of solid balm that can be melted onto fingertips before being strategically blended onto high points.
But these small bottles, with their neat pipette stoppers, are home to what can best be described as molten metal. Which means they are incredibly versatile. You can mix them into your day cream, primer or foundation to create a glowing complexion that will have colleagues asking whether or not you've had a facial. It will lift a sallow complexion on a Monday morning or come Friday after a few drinks the night before.
On holiday, you can mix a drop into your SPF or tinted moisturiser to give skin a welcome sheen. In fact, a couple of drops of this buffed along the arms, down your shins and onto your décolletage before a night out will make you look like you're privy to J.Lo's skin-glowing secret. Then you can decant a drop onto the back of your hand, and use a small brush to buff an intense hit of sheen along cheek and brow bones, down the bridge of your nose and onto your Cupid's bow, if you so wish.
There are currently three shades to shop: Phoenix, a creamy gold; Blaze, a shimmering apricot; and Misty, a silvery pink. I'm not going to lie, choosing a shade is going to be a struggle (you're going to want them all). For a classic highlight, I'd opt for Phoenix. If you're a darker skin tone or you have a tan, Blaze should be your first choice, while Misty will look incredible on anyone pale or with a cooler skin tone. Or you could just buy all three—we won't tell.
