Olivia Culpo Just Redefined "Perfect" Beauty Standards
There’s no denying that Olivia Culpo is stunning. The former Miss Universe’s beautiful brows, beaming smile, and silky-smooth skin are all evident on her Instagram page (and in real life, of course). But a recent post was an outlier among her frequent glamorous pictures, accompanied by the hashtag #being13. The picture depicts Culpo at age 13, sporting what she deems “chubby cheeks” and an “awkward smile.” However, the picture wasn’t an attempt to complain about her looks as a young girl—instead, Culpo shattered the stigma of being an awkward teen with some beautiful comments. Scroll down to read her words of wisdom!
Oh my gosh. So here it is #Being13-- chubby cheeks, brow game STRONG, awkward smile, are my eyes open?whats with the headband string??? -- ah #being13. Not really sure who you are or what the world is all about. I really feel for the younger generation and the tremendous amount of pressure young girls feel today to appear "perfect," basically holding an unrealistic expectation of face, body, social life etc. Everyone, no matter who you are, will never measure up to "perfect" because it doesn't exist. And however close you come to this "perfect" mould should not define how you feel about yourself or what you think others perceive you as. Photoshop, Instagram "highlight reels," and that 1/1000 perfect selfie have altered reality and created an unreachable standard. I think at the end of the day, no matter who you are, everyone struggles with insecurities and we're all in this together as women battling a time that is very much influenced by social media and these socially glorified images that set a standard of perfection. I'm not saying it's bad to post a picture that you think you look good in or take a selfie. I just wish young girls didn't feel sick over comparison and inevitably failing to measure up. So if you're 13 years old and awkward, be 13 and awkward! Same with 14 and 15 and every age. As cliche as it sounds- love the skin you're in. And love one another because we're all going through the same thing.

“Love the skin you’re in.” We couldn’t agree more, and love that she used her platform of over 965,000 current Instagram followers to let girls know that it’s perfectly ok to not be perfect. A beauty on the outside, Culpo may be, but on the inside, she’s a true beauty queen.
For glowing, radiant skin like Culpo’s, we recommend applying a bit of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream ($27) in the morning and before bed.
