The Unexpected Hack That Makes Nail Art Quick and Easy

Amy Lawrenson

Nail art is a tricky business, it requires a steady hand and plenty of patience. This is especially true if you’re trying to add detail to the tip, which is exactly what manicurist Jenny Draper and her team were doing backstage at Julien Macdonald where 24 models were wearing a new take on the classic French manicure: a nude nail and a black tip. Keep scrolling to find out Jenny’s genius hack.

Instead of fiddling about with those French manicure stickers, painting on black polish and then having to wait for it to dry (time is of the essence backstage), she painted the nails with one thin coat of L’Oréal Paris’s new Color Riche A L'Huile (£5) in 220 Dimanche Après Midi to perfect the tone before using an eyeliner pen—Super Liner Superstar (£8)—to draw a line using the nail edge as her guide.

Not only is this hack quick and easy, but you could use a liner pen to doodle all kinds of graphic patterns over your nails before sealing the design with a glossy topcoat like Jenny did backstage.

This isn't the first unusual use for eyeliner we've seen backstage at London Fashion Week, see how you can multitask your brown eye pencil.

Do you think this nail art trick is as genius as we do? Will you try it at home?
