We managed to grab five minutes out of model Luma Grothe's busy schedule when she was in London recently to talk all things beauty and wellness. From why she ditches cardio to how she tames her wild, wavy hair, we got her to spill the tips that keep her looking great while managing such a busy schedule, which includes being a spokesperson for L'Oréal Paris. You Don’t Have to Do Cardio to Keep Fit

I travel a lot and I’m always jet lagged, so whenever I am at a hotel I will head to the gym and exercise. I exercise a lot to keep fit. I always want to look my best so I probably go to the gym 4–5 times per week for an hour.

I don’t do a lot of cardio because I don’t like it very much! I do a lot of weight training and resistance exercises. Every day I focus on a different area, so over the course of a week I will have trained my whole body. I also drink a lot of water, which is really important if you exercise a lot, and I take a lot of protein—I take protein shakes after a workout but I don’t use them to replace a meal.

I follow a lot of models on Instagram. Izabel Goulart always posts videos of herself working out, so I look to her for ideas!

 

Wear Sunscreen and Massage Your Skin

It’s really important to use sunscreen every time you go outside, even if it’s not sunny. In the morning, I will do a 5-minute massage to boost circulation, I’ll do this with my face cream. Everybody’s skin is different but I think the main thing is to keep your skin hydrated and protected from the sun.

Practice the No-Makeup Makeup Look

I like the no-makeup makeup look for every day, it looks like you don’t have makeup on but you actually do. For that I use the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation (£8), because it’s matte and has good coverage but you can’t really tell you’re wearing makeup, I’ll use my fingers or a BeautyBlender (£16) to apply it. I also like the L'Oréal Paris Nude BB Magique Blush (£8); it looks really natural.

For night I love a bold lip, a bright matte orange is my favourite—I apply it straight from the bullet and then blend and tap it in with my finger for a more lived-in look.

Brows Before a Brew

I apply clear gel to my brows, I literally do this before my coffee in the mornings so I look groomed! They are so thick; to keep them neat I’ll do that first thing. I like to brush them up so they look even fuller.

Use Mousse for Beachy Hair

My hair is quite wild and wavy, so I use a mousse on my hair when it’s damp to tame it and to give it that beachy texture.

Help Your Skin When Travelling

On a flight, I’ll pack a water mist and use that during. Once I arrive at the hotel, I’ll always use a green tea face mask. (Ed note: Try Evian Brumisateur Facial Mist, £6, and The Pines Apothecary Matcha Clay Mask, £9).
