The Louis Vuitton Perfume Collection Wasn't What We Were Expecting

While there were rumours that the new Louis Vuitton fragrances were set to smell like leather (and therefore we could match our scent to our handbag), that's not going to be the case. Instead, we can expect a more traditional approach to the fashion house's first perfume since 1946. But more on that later.

Fronting the campaign for the new collection is French actress Léa Seydoux, who can be seen in some incredible images for the range. The important information, however, is that there will be more than just one scent available and they are set to launch in September.

The French fashion house revealed that it will be launching its first perfume a month ago and that it will stock the collection across its 473 stores. But now we have more details: the perfume range will include seven scents, Rose des Ventis, Turbulences, Dans la peau, Apogée, Contre Moi, Matiére Noire, and Mille Feux, with each bottle costing £184.

For the new scents, Louis Vuitton hired master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud in 2012, who was behind the iconic Acqua di Gio and Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey, and it's taken four years to develop the range, such was the dedication and skill need to create something unique for the brand.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Cavallier revealed that all the fragrances are based on flowers, and that's for one simple reason: "For me, flowers are the smell of love. When you love your wife, you give her flowers."
