The Kajal Crayon That Changed My Eyeliner Game

I bear the unfortunate beauty burden of having small eyes—which is why a black cat-eye became part of my everyday look after a kind Sephora employee taught me how to perfect the technique right out of college. Anything that elongates the eye with a sexy, feminine, feline wing is exactly what these sad, small peepers have always needed. And so, for five years, I’ve been using the same gel pot formula, applied painstakingly with an angled brush. Because it worked, and I am loyal to things that work. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?

Sure, I had the occasional dalliance with a liquid liner, but I always came back to the gel pot. That is, until last weekend when I tested out Sonia Kashuk’s new Dramatically Intensifying Kajal ($9) crayon liner, and everything changed.

The gold metallic tube felt like a sleek James Bond tool in my hands (bonus number one: super-chic packaging), and, to my complete surprise, it glided on so smoothly. Within seconds, I had created my go-to cat-eye—it was that easy to use.

The liner's waxy soft finish (it’s made with emollient rose and mimosa waxes for a friction-free application) was downright perfect. I was able to line my top lid, lower lash line, and inner water line, all with the same ease and flawless results. And the simultaneously chunky and narrow tip (depending on how you angle it) means you can create any kind of line you want—thick or thin.

In addition to cutting down on tools (no more pot + brush), I’m thrilled to have something I can just throw in my purse if I want to amp up the drama on the go. It is truly one of the easiest beauty tools I have ever used.

Take it from a black eyeliner addict (it’s my desert island beauty product, after all), this is one product to have in your arsenal, especially when it costs a mere $9 bucks.

Have you tried a kajal crayon (aka kohl liner) before? Will you be trying this one out? Tell me below!
