I embrace my paleness. I stay out of the sun and away from spray tans. The one glow-boosting product I do give in to is gradual self-tanning lotion. However, my general distaste for lotion means this is a rather infrequent occurrence in my life. I will admit that I wish my face would get more colour. My paleness can be a little jarring in photos. But gradual self-tanning lotions for the face always make me break out, and they don’t exactly fit it into my regular skincare routine. Recently, I discovered Glow Radiance Booster ($30) from Hylamide, a much-loved brand overseas that recently landed in the U.S. It’s a lightweight serum that gives your complexion a glow. It’s not a self-tanner (it’s DHA-free), and it’s loaded with anti-ageing skin benefits (most of which target skin tone and texture). And the best part is that you use it as an adjunct to your regular skincare routine. It absorbs quickly, and I use it between my second and third serums. Less than a week after I started using it, I noticed a nice change in my skin. The tan-boosting effects are subtle and natural, giving you that post-vacation glow. The end result is your skin, only better. The one thing to watch out for is your palms. A few days after I noticed my skin looking more radiant, I noticed my palms looking a little orange. So, word to the wise: Wash your hands after application to keep the glow on your face and nowhere else.
