The key to staving off a sweaty situation this summer? Applying your antiperspirant deodorant (like the one below) at night, before you go to bed! In fact, most clinical-strength antiperspirant products actually come with instructions to apply them at night for maximum effectiveness. But the trick applies to regular-strength deodorants as well. You naturally produce more sweat in the a.m., so it's less easy for the product to absorb into your skin and take hold to clog your sweat gland from releasing sweat when you're applying it in the a.m. David Pariser, M.D., president of the American Academy of Dermatology, told Consumer Reports that bedtime application "really is the best way to use an antiperspirant," especially in a season like summer! The effect is supposed to last for a full day, even if you shower the morning after you apply it at night. I started doing this recently and have felt much drier (and better-smelling) throughout the day!
