It’s Official—Faux Freckles Are Taking Over the Runway
There’s nothing we love more than a trend that requires zero work. In case you’re wondering, we’re referring to fake freckles, the latest beauty look to take over Fashion Week. If you’re lucky enough to have a spattering of freckles already, then you’ll require little effort to master this trend, which was spotted on the S/S 15 runways of Adam Selman, Oscar de la Renta, and Preen. All you have to do is step away from the foundation. As for the non-freckled girls? Read on to find out how makeup artist Val Garland created the look for the Preen S/S 15 show.
Garland was influenced by a Maasai-warrior-meets-'80s-sporty vibe to complement the brand’s cricket-inspired collection, using a variety of products and colors to avoid uniform freckles, the key to making the spots look real. She used MAC Eye Pencils ($16) in colors like mahogany, oak, stone, and coffee, along with the brand's Penultimate Brow Markers ($20), to apply tiny dots to face and neck. To really sell the look, Nichola Joss from St. Tropez added specks to the rest of the body.
The added benefit of this adorable trend? It will make you look younger without ever having to set foot in a doctor’s office. “I work with Gisele [Bündchen] a lot and she does this often. I asked her why she puts on freckles and she said, ‘Because it makes me look younger,’” Garland explained. Consider us sold on this youthful trend!
