We're total suckers for a decent hack, especially when it puts products we are already own to good use. Some products, like that tiny jar of eye-repair cream, double as the secret weapon to conquering all sorts of beauty woes. So before you drop more cash on cures, we're here to say you may have 99 beauty problems, but shopping beyond your means doesn't need to be one. Keep scrolling for five unexpected (and unadvertised) ways to use the eye cream in your cabinet.

Plump Up Lips
This pro tip we learned courtesy of Mathilde Thomas, Caudalie’s founder. In a nutshell, the skin around the lips is not much different than the skin around the eye—both are thin and need some TLC. Dab a little Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream (£49) to the lip area and watch them plump! We almost can't remember life before we learned this trick.

Blend With Makeup
Most of us are using our Origins Plantscription Anti-Ageing Power Eye Cream (£38) all by its lonesome. That’s fine, but it turns out the pros blend eye cream with their foundation and BB creams. Trust us when we say that this application combo will make you look more awake.

Fix Makeup Errors
Cat-eye application problems? No worries. Dip a cotton swap in a pinch of eye cream like Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado (£33). Now gently pat the area that needs editing. This will remove the error without disrupting the rest of your hard work.

Combat Puffiness
Store your eye cream in the refrigerator and the coolness will reduce puffiness around the eyes while the formula performs its regular hydrating duties. We love Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (£32) for this trick.

Use It at Night
Yep—the same way we apply a face mask at night, you should also be repairing the delicate skin around your eyes. By applying a heavy eye cream like Yves Saint Laurent Forever Youth Liberator Eye Créme (£45) at the end of the day, you allow the skin to hydrate uninterrupted—i.e. you aren’t pulling and tugging the skin immediately after in an attempt to apply eye shadow, liner, and mascara for the day.
