How to Transform Any Lip Colour in Just 3 Steps
Makeup hacks and finding more uses for products we already own and love—two of our favourite things, all wrapped up into one video. When you already have the perfect poppy-coloured red lip—one that suits your skin tone, stays put, and doesn’t dry out your lips—you may want something more dramatic every now and again, and we found a trick you can rely on. If you found a flattering fuchsia but feel the urge to switch to a rich berry shade on a whim, no need to pack an extra lipstick option in your purse. You can transform any lip colour using a product that’s probably already in your touch-up kit. Watch the video to see the side-by-side comparison of the transformation.
Check out the instructions below, and click play on the video above to see how it’s done!
- Always moisturise your lips before applying lip colour. We recommend the makeup artist-favourite Cold Cream Lip Cream (£8) by Avéne.
- Next, grab a creamy black eyeliner (make sure it’s sharpened). Use it to line and fill in your lips. This will look a little jarring, but just wait for the finished result.
- Blot with a tissue or blotting paper to remove any excess pigment sitting on top of your lips.
- Apply your lipstick of choice, just as you normally would. We’re using the classic Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (£16) in Dragon Girl.
