Seen at NYFW: A Heavy-Metal Eye Look We Want to Rock Right Now
While we'll have to wait until 2016 to don any of the amazing clothing we see at New York Fashion Week, the wonderful thing about beauty is that there's plenty of inspiration to steal right now. Case in point: the ultra-cool sparkly eye makeup we saw this morning at Creatures of the Wind. We have a feeling it will be our go-to look during holiday party season.
Interestingly, only a few models in the show were decked out in glitter. Nars lead makeup artist Aaron de Mey created what he called a "progressive eye" inspired by avant-garde icon Siouxsie Sioux: The first several girls in the presentation simply had thick, modern winged liner, followed by a handful of models with a touch of glitter. But the last three girls to walk the runway had the full look—and we were lucky to catch a couple of them between run-throughs backstage so we could see it come together in person. To get that graphic cat eye, de Mey used Nars's Eye Paint ($25) in Black Valley. The secret to making it look ultra modern? "You almost want to aim to draw a right angle," he says.
De Mey actually used more than one type of liner for this look, choosing Nars's Eye Pencil ($23) in Black Moon for the lower waterline and smudging it just a little bit. With all this liner action, he says, there's no need for mascara.
